The Red Dragon book was based on a painting of the same name Blake did. Besides for that he was an early 19th century English poet/philosopher/artist. He talked a lot about the body and soul being inseperable. He painted visions he had. He used a lot of archetypes based on Biblical themes in his works. People thought he was crazy at the time. And he ate people's livers with a nice Chianti. JK
